¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· CI Holds the 11th Annual Board Meeting and Welcome Party for New Teachers


On September 24, the 11th Annual Board Meeting of University of Science and Technology Beijing-¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· Confucius Institute was successfully held at ¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ·. Co-Director of CI, Yi Zhang chaired the meeting and delivered the work report. Afterwards, guests from both universities jointly attended the Welcome Party for the Confucius Institute’s new cohort of mandarin teachers and volunteer teachers.

The Board Meeting systematically reviewed the teaching and cultural work of 2024, studied the budget report, deliberated on the 2025 work plan, and confirmed that both parties will continue to deepen cooperation on CI’s further development, the promotion of Chinese language education and culture, and academic exchanges. Centred on the theme of “review & evaluation—planning & enhancement— mechanism Implementation,” the meeting reached multiple consensus and clarified the key tasks and timelines for the next stage, laying a solid institutional foundation for the long-term development of the Confucius Institute.

Following the meeting, the Confucius Institute held a Welcome Event for the 2025 new teachers. The programme featured cultural experience activities such as guzheng performance, tea ceremony demonstration, Sichuan opera face-changing, and a collaborative ping-pong relay. The atmosphere was lively, vividly showcasing the great appeal of Sino-British cultural exchange. Representatives of the mandarin teachers and volunteer teachers shared their work outlook, expressing their commitment to engaging in teaching and promotion with full enthusiasm.

Vice Chancellor Katie Normington from ¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ·, PVC International and CI’s Director Simon Bradbury, and Vice President Jiao Shuqiang from USTB, among other responsible officials, attended the Annual Board Meeting. In total, 16 guests from the two universities and 11 newly arrived Mandarin teachers took part in the Welcome Party. In her remarks, Co-Director Yi Zhang stated that this event bore witness to the strong foundation of cooperation between the two universities, not only strengthening team cohesion but also laying a good groundwork for the orderly advancement of various tasks in the new academic year.
